The gladdest moments in my life are departures into unknown lands. Naturally, I was full of excitement when I first arrived in Jiaxing on a hot summer day. From its founding two thousand years during the Qin Dynasty this marvel lying at the Grand Canal is known until the present day as “land of plenty”. Never have I seen such a prosperous and rich land full of monuments of its ancient cultural heritage. I was stunned by the works of art I saw in the former residence of Feng Zikai and elated by the delicious taste of the Tongxiang signature snack at the Sisters-in-law Flaky Pastry studio and the masterpieces of the bakery tradition at the Rongrong bakery in Xicheng town. But Jiaxing not only enchants its guests with its ancient wonders but also with breathtaking contemporary art I had the honor to see at the Chinese Peasant’s Painting museum and it even hosts the art studio of the international acclaimed artist Miao Huixin. The highlight of this trip was a visit at Jiaxing’s beautiful South Lake. On a boat on this very lake the Communist Party of China was founded in 1921 as result of the First National Congress. I enjoyed so many new experiences and impressions that I can truly say I have been at the land of plenty.

Longyou
Following my affection for photography and the beauty of his chosen paradise on earth he eagerly joins That’s China’s famous and unforgettable Photography competition trips around Hangzhou. This time I even postponed my departure to Europe in order to bring my camera to the wonders of Longyou – a rising tourist destination which will soon be become one of China’s main tourist destinations. Starting with an incredible tasty lunch we were stunned by its local architecture park which was followed by the breathtaking view of the Shijiao river rivaling the world’s most beautiful rivers. We concluded the first day with the best dinner I had in my life at the Longhe Fishery park. The second and sadly last day of our trip started with 9th World Wonder – the Longyou Grottoes. After seeing the remaining seven world wonders it should be called the 1st world wonder with its stunning halls, light installation and show. Locals say it was created by aliens because they couldn’t believe men can create such a wonder. Filled with unforgettable impressions of this journey of a lifetime wondering along Longyou’s lotus fields I couldn’t help myself but think of an old saying:
We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls and I found true gem of a city – Longyou.
Songyang
More anticipated than Santa Claus on Christmas and more appreciated than sitting at a hot summer night with a cold beer and a pretzel in a German beer garden was That’s China’s second photography trip of 2016. This time it brought me and 20 photography enthusiasts from all over the world to Songyang – a city you probably haven’t heard of yet – but I promise you will soon be found of one of China’s main tourist destinations. We stayed in an Architectural dream of a hotel overlooking the vast river running through this marvelous city with a breathtaking view of its temple on top of a hill giving making a scenery like in a fairy tale. Our days were filled with wonders of ancient streets where skilled craftsman are manufacturing everything from iron tools to fine textiles and vast tea hills were I tasted the best tea I ever had in my love. After returning back to Hangzhou the two days felt like two weeks with so many new dear friends and impressions found during the trip. We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls and I found a true gem of a city – Songyang.
